What's wrong with this picture?

Taken from an article on cnn.com:

Karr sat in business class and dined on paté and prawns, and drank champagne, a beer, and French chardonnay

Now as a mom, (hell fire as a decent human being) especially the mom of a daughter who is just a couple years younger than JonBenet and just as beautiful I might add
(with the usual dose of mommy pride but not to take away from the poor baby who's life ended much too soon, does this seem a little wrong? I can'taffordt pate or champaing, prawns, or French chardonnay. Being in custody isn't supposed to be luxurious. And since this man has a bench warrant out for his arrest forfailurer to appear at his trial for possession of child pornography, wouldn't bread and water be more appropriate? Of course, my redneck ways come to the surface and I'm inclined to think instead of business class a cage in the cargo area would be more fitting, like all the other animals travel on an airline.

I'm just sayin..............

I'm spending way to much time reading other people's blogs when I should be cleaning. Way too much time. Blatant avoidance issues here, ladies and gentlemen. I am not Martha or carol or Betty Crocker. I wish I was. I wish I was compulsively neat. I wish there weren't a thousand other things I'd rather be doing than putting the laundry away or loading the dishwasher.

Especially reading the blogs of other moms whom I sure keep much neater houses than I do. ahem.........

I'm devising a plan though. Not a schedule, because my right-brained system will never allow that. I plan. It sounds less harsh, less complicated, less set in stone. It's just a housekeeping "P_L_A_N" after all.

I pick up my kids from their dad's house tomorrow at 6 p.m. That gives me till 5 p.m. to get the house cleaned from top to bottom, including all those little tedious little things like sorting all the socks out I keep tossing in the basket on the dryer. We match them up as we need them. Like I said, I'm not the Beav's mom.

Then, hopefully maintenance each day won't take nearly so long. I'll do a quick straighten up each night as the daycare kids leave and run the sweeper. Then, in the mornings as they come in and some of them who get here early go back to sleep, I'll do a load of laundry, the kitchen and bath. Shouldn't be that hard, right?hmmmm.....

You can sure bet if I fail, I won't be admitting it here. I'd hate to publicly humiliate myself.

Why don't I start cleaning now? Cause there are so many good blogs I have to read tonight and Spongebob comes on again in a couple minutes. I have to have my priorities.

Here's a great newsletter and website I came across. This description is right from the site.

If you're looking for fun and educational ways to keep your kids occupied then you've come to the right place! kids craft weekly is a free email newsletter that features original craft ideas and fun activities for toddlers and preschoolers.

www.kidscraftweekly.com

This weeks theme is pirates. Needless to say, running a daycare from my home and all, I'm quickly becoming a big fan of theirs. You can never get too many free and fun ideas.

I always post gratitude reminders on my yahoo group, journalwriters. I'd love to see it become a movement. We call it Thankful Thursday on the group. We always list ten things we have to be thankful for, no matter how small, and share it with the other journal keeprs. So in honor of journalwriters and their faithfulness to gratitude and encouraging abundence in their lives, I'll try to remember to post mine here each week, if not more often. Being a struggling single mom, sometimes it's hard to see all the things I do have to be grateful for when there is so much more I see families with both parents giving their children. So without further delay:

Thankful Thursday--the innagural version on Busy Mom

I am thankful for:

my children
my extended family
that we have a roof over our heads when so many don't
that I don't go to bed each night fearing bombs falling from the sky
for the laundry once again piled up because it means we have plenty to wear
for the dishes sitting in the sink waiting to be loaded into the dishwasher because it means we ate well tonight.
for that one matchbox car that didn't get picked up that I stepped on making my trip in the dark to the bathroom--because it means little man has toys to play with
for ice cold coke on a 100 degree day
for air conditioning-although I can tell ya'll right now I won't be thankful for the bill next month
for those popsicles in the little plastic bag that are so cheap but the kids see as delicacies(and they don't make much of a mess either)

So there's my ten. It came pretty easily today. Some days it's a struggle. But the kids didn't fight a whole lot today, so it left some of my nerves in tact-which helps with the concentration levels.

I thought with them being five years apart they wouldn't fight as much as siblings who are a year or two apart. Buddy, was I wrong! And I'm reminded of it each day as I ring the bell and separate them into their corners of the ring.

The kids are gone with their dad for a couple of hours. I think I'll jump on the furniture, stay on the phone the whole time with my friends and not click over if a call comes in while I play my stereo so loud the neighbors and hear it, and have ice cream for dinner.

This concludes my mommy moment of madness. You may now return to your regularly scheduled programming.
